Lets start with the facts.  History records the Bay of Pigs as a failure for Kennedy.   Recordings prove that members of the State Department and close advisers to Kennedy were communist informants.   Many independent analyzers suspect that Kennedy probably got duped by disinformation from the people he listened to.  Kennedy initially supported the Cuban exile community and the U.S. military trained these exiles to invade Cuba.  Shortly before the invasion commenced, last second changes were made that doomed the operation.  After months of planning and preparation, the landing zone chosen to invade Cuba was changed to what turned out to be a  tactically unassailable position where Castro was entrenched and waiting!  While the operation was already underway, Kennedy withdrew promised logistical support from the United States. The U.S. supply ships and airborne divisions just miles away, were told not to engage. The rest is recorded as one of Kennedy's biggest failures.   Was Kennedy really that incompetent?  Or was he just duped by misinformation.  

The story between Kennedy and Cuba did not end there.  I hope I don't need to remind anybody about what that is.  Popular history views Kennedy as being redeemed in the Missile Crisis because he averted nuclear war.  As if Russia truly would face nuclear annihilation over Cuba?  Years later we learn that the only one really demanding a nuclear attack was Castro.  So in exchange for not getting blown off the face of the Earth, Kennedy agreed to allow Cuba to remain dominated by a thug dictator.  Some achievement.  Another country falls into tyranny and Castro rightly laughs to this day about how foolish Americans are.   Why shouldn't he? The Missile Crisis was basically Kennedy giving in to pressure.   Kennedy probably realized he had been duped but the time wasn't right for revenge.  Castro is no fool, why let a man who hates you maintain power?  Kennedy was assassinated. The culprit seemingly acted alone.  One will note that history does record a meeting between said individual and Mexican radicals known to be backed by Castro.  Following the Kennedy assassination, evidence leading back to Cuba was mostly swept under the rug.  Probably because Johnson didn't want to deal with the public outrage and followup crisis.   Maybe the same advisers who duped Kennedy steered Johnson this way?  Who can say for sure? We know Johnson made a mess of the Vietnam war and even hand-picked targets of little strategic value.   The Vietnam war goes down as another U.S. failure.  Useful idiots.

Castro has been left in place because he had some kind of trump card.   My sincerest hope is that someday we learn what that was. You may be right that once the Castro brothers die Cuba will have an opportunity for freedom.

Cuba could be a triumph for Obama if he applied the right kind of pressure.   Cuba sits 90 miles off our shore, has an archaic military and a large population that actively tries to flee the island.  If the American Navy and a few divisions of amphibious assault units were to descend upon Havana and demand free and open elections in Cuba they could liberate the entire nation within a matter of weeks.   (Don't believe me, look up the U.S. invasion of the Dominican Republic.)  Obama would be a hero.  Cuban Americans would never vote Republican again and Florida would forever be a blue state.   Hell, Cuba might even be a commonwealth and bring prosperity to our hemisphere.  Stability in Cuba would extend to other nations in South America. 


I have decided to come forward with this suggestion because the liberals of these forums are not all drinking the Kool'Aid.  Your responses to attempts to idealize a thug dictator were met with rebuke.   What I expect from principled people.   Diplomacy, the embargo, free trade, negotiations and a visit from the Pope have not brought Cuba liberty.  Why should Cubans wait any longer?   Liberals are humanitarian, are they not?  Why is it permissible for a thug to forcibly keep his own people from leaving?  How can one justify the murder of women and children by use of gunboats and firehouses?

If the liberal media continues to ignore the failures of liberal demigods with poorly conceived notions of liberalism, then they are all accomplices to murder.  Even if they have the best of intentions, they have failed in their duty to the truth.   If you hear these words and dismiss them, then one wonders what you will do when the time comes to defend your own liberty.  Maybe such an individual will deserve to be treated as cattle or sheep.
